After the Berlin Wall was pulled down in 1990, more than a hundred streets were reconnected and signs of the Wall’s existence have almost disappeared. The site of Check Point Charlie is now a museum and visitors can see a chunk of the Wall decorated by local artists. Check Point Charlie was the crossing point between East and West Berlin. The Brandenburg gate, the last remaining gate of the Berlin Wall, is regarded as one of the greatest symbols of German unity.
Wednesday 29th July
Breakfast. Without any doubt, Potsdam is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany and this is where we will be going today, optional. Integrated into the attractive cultural ambience, the capital city of the State of Brandenburg is a natural destination to satisfy the most varied interests and demands. Potsdam’s most popular sight is the Sanssouci Palace (entrance included) located in the park to which it gives its name. However, there are far more than the former summer residency of Frederick the Great and the Sanssouci park to make your visit worthwhile. The Alexandrowka, the Dutch Quarter and the Weaver’s quarter – the historic sections of the city – provide the flair of a city stepped in European tradition.
